Pre-Boil Gravity Calculator + Adjustments
Enter values above

How It Works

The Pre-Boil Gravity Calculator uses the following formulas to calculate the pre-boil gravity and adjustments:

ABV Calculation: ABV = (OG – FG) * 131.25, where OG is the original gravity and FG is the final gravity.

Pre-Boil Gravity Calculation: Pre-Boil Gravity = OG * (Post-Boil Volume / Pre-Boil Volume), where OG is the original gravity, Post-Boil Volume is the volume after boiling, and Pre-Boil Volume is the volume before boiling.

Adjustment Calculation: Adjustment = (Pre-Boil Volume – Post-Boil Volume) / Pre-Boil Volume * 100, where Pre-Boil Volume is the volume before boiling and Post-Boil Volume is the volume after boiling.

How to Use

  • Enter the original gravity (OG) of your wort.
  • Enter the final gravity (FG) of your beer.
  • Enter the pre-boil volume of your wort.
  • Enter the post-boil volume of your wort.
  • Click the “Calculate” button to calculate the pre-boil gravity and adjustments.

Common Questions

What is pre-boil gravity?

Pre-boil gravity is the gravity of the wort before boiling, which is an important factor in determining the final gravity and ABV of the beer.
