Dry Martini
A spirit-led recipe that makes temperature, dilution and aroma easy to compare.

Ingredients
- gin60 ml
- dry vermouth10 ml
Quantities scale proportionally. Ice, garnish and “to top” amounts depend on the glass. Prepare individual portions when a shaker or mixing glass cannot hold the full batch.
Garnish: Lemon peel oil or an olive.
Method

Add the gin and vermouth to a mixing glass filled with ice.

Stir, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Express lemon peel oil over the drink, or choose an olive garnish.

The learning point
The reference recipe is 6:1 by volume. Changing vermouth changes the botanical and wine components together.
Watch for this
A common mistake
The words “dry” and “strong” describe different properties. Less vermouth changes flavour as well as alcohol concentration.
