How It Works
The wort color blending calculator uses the formula for calculating the blended SRM (Standard Reference Method) of two malts. The formula is: blended SRM = (proportion of malt 1 / 100) * SRM of malt 1 + (proportion of malt 2 / 100) * SRM of malt 2. This formula is based on the principle that the SRM of a blend of two malts is equal to the sum of the products of the proportion of each malt and its respective SRM.
How to Use
- Enter the SRM of the first malt in the “SRM of malt 1” field.
- Enter the proportion of the first malt in the “Proportion of malt 1” field.
- Enter the SRM of the second malt in the “SRM of malt 2” field.
- Enter the proportion of the second malt in the “Proportion of malt 2” field.
- Click the “Calculate blended SRM” button to calculate the blended SRM.
Common Questions
What is SRM?
SRM (Standard Reference Method) is a method of measuring the color of a beer or wort. It is a scale that ranges from 1 (very light) to 40 (very dark). The SRM of a beer or wort is determined by the amount of malt and other ingredients used in the recipe.
